Online Virtual Simulation Courses

Our "Virtual Simulation" Courses involve supervised interactions with simulated patients (professional actors), and guided discussions and feedback on your clinical reasoning and communication skills. These courses are hosted remotely via Zoom.  

These online courses provide an ideal opportunity for further APC exam preparation during the COVID-19 restrictions.

​We have two flexible scheduling options: three evenings varying between 1-1.5 hours, or one half day of 4.5 hours.
​

​There are 6 different case scenarios and across cardiorespiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal areas of practice. ​

Cardiorespiratory - COPD Online

This online course focuses on Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice and clinical reasoning, and involves virtual simulation-based interactions with a simulated patient (actor) over Zoom.  The condition of focus is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in a rehabilitation setting.

  • Guided reflective case discussions, debriefing, and feedback from expert physiotherapists on your skills

  • Course timing on weekday evening sessions is as follows:

          o Day 2: Simulation – 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm AEST
          o Day 3: Case discussions and debriefing – 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm AEST​
  • Course timing on half-day weekend sessions is as follows:
     o Orientation, Simulation, Case discussions and debriefing - 900 am - 1:30 pm AEST

  • Small group numbers (capped at 9) give attention to participants and direct feedback from the physiotherapy facilitator
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this one day course, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the continuum of multidisciplinary care for a patient experiencing an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Australian healthcare contexts
  2. Design and implement a physiotherapy assessment of a patient experiencing an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) across the continuum of care (acute, sub-acute and pulmonary rehabilitation).
  3. Formulate a prioritised problem list for a patient experiencing an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and compare and contrast the likely challenges people with COPD from admission to resolution of stable disease state.
  4. Formulate and implement an evidence-informed physiotherapy management plan for a patient with COPD across the continuum of care (acute, sub-acute and pulmonary rehabilitation).
  5. Practice in a culturally responsive manner, with respect for cultural diversity in the Australian context.

Terms and Conditions per booking

By booking into a course with Physiotherapy Education Australia, clients agree to abide by the following terms and conditions:
​
1.  In the event of a course date being cancelled by Physiotherapy Education Australia due to insufficient numbers or another unforeseen event, all participants will be notified by email 7 days prior to the course (where possible) and all participants will be offered either a full refund or an alternate course date. 
​
2.  In the event of a course booking being cancelled by a participant, the following conditions apply:
     a. Participants will be eligible for a full refund or to transfer their booking to a different date if a course cancellation request is received in writing by 5:00pm AEDT at least 10 days prior to the scheduled date. 
     b. A non-refundable $50 administration fee will be deducted from all refunds.
     c. Full payment is required (i.e. no refunds are possible) for any cancellations received later than 5:00pm AEDT at least 10 days prior to the scheduled date
     d. All cancellations must be received in writing via email to info@physioeducation.com.au
     e. Refunds will be processed within 21 days of cancellation via the same method used for payment.

3.  The participant acknowledges that this booking shall be made subject to the participant entering into a Participation Agreement with Physiotherapy Education Australia prior to the commencement of the course.
